The program reimburses eligible mature-tree care after approval and completed work. Funding is first-come, first-served, and the City decides each award.

Pruning
Dead, cracked or broken limbs; structural improvement; and specialized veteran-tree pruning.
Cable, brace or prop
Physical support intended to help prevent failure and allow reaction wood to develop.
Integrated pest management
Preventive and control measures that keep pests within a tolerable threshold.
Soil or root care
The City’s overview includes practical soil and root care that supports mature-tree health.
Application sequence
- 1
Measure and obtain a qualified assessment
Confirm the tree is at least 40 cm DBH and get a current quote from a qualified arborist.
- 2
Submit the application before work
The City reviews the application and may arrange a site visit or request photographs.
- 3
Wait for approval
If approved, the City issues an Offer of Award. Only then should the approved work be scheduled.
- 4
Complete and pay for the work
The contract remains between the owner and contractor. The City does not pay contractors directly.
- 5
Submit proof of payment
Provide a receipt or paid invoice showing a zero balance. City staff may verify the completed work before issuing the cheque.
Not eligible after the fact
Do not start work before assistance is approved. Work required by a City Order is also excluded from the program.
