2026 TCCP quote audit

How to Review an Arborist Quote Before You Apply

A useful quote does not need secret wording. It needs the City’s required details, eligible work that is described clearly, and a professional who meets London’s qualification rules.

Required by the City

The five details your quote should contain

London’s 2026 program page lists the following information. The arborist’s assessment, quote and supporting documentation should be no more than six months old.

  1. 1
    Arborist information

Name, business information and enough credential detail for City staff to assess qualifications.

  2. 2
    Services or materials

Describe what will be supplied—for example, pruning specified branches or installing a support system.

  3. 3
    The customer

The quote should identify the property owner or applicant receiving the service.

  4. 4
    The cost

Show the quoted price. The City determines the eligible award on a case-by-case basis.

  5. 5
    The quote date

Use current documents; the City says the assessment and supporting material should be no more than six months old.

Required

Published City fields

Arborist, recipient, work or materials, cost and date.

Recommended

Review-friendly detail

Tree location, species, approximate DBH, work objective, branches or stems involved and separate optional items.

Not a guarantee

“Grant-approved” wording

No contractor can promise the City’s decision or a particular award amount.

Scope quality

What stronger wording looks like

Too vague to evaluate easily

“Trim maple — $1,200.”

Clearer, objective-based scope

“Prune dead and cracked branches from the rear-yard maple and selectively reduce the overextended limb above the driveway to improve structure. Remove debris from site.”

The stronger example is a clarity recommendation, not a City-prescribed sentence.

Red flags

Pause before accepting a quote that includes these claims

Guaranteed funding

The City reviews applications, conducts or arranges site verification and decides the award.

Work before approval

Retrospective applications are not eligible. Do not begin work before City approval.

Topping as routine care

Topping is inconsistent with accepted pruning guidance and can create stress, decay and future risk.

No credential details

Ask which accepted qualification the person performing the work holds and how it can be verified.
