Why mature trees matter
Planting and preservation work together
New trees are essential for future canopy, while appropriate care can extend the life of existing mature trees. The TCCP focuses on private-property trees because a large portion of London’s urban forest is outside City ownership.
Canopy context does not establish that an individual tree is safe, dangerous or grant-eligible. Those decisions require property-level information and professional assessment.
